Eel Lake

Serene blue lake surrounded by a dense evergreen forest, with tree branches silhouetted in the foreground.

Eel Lake is a major recreational part of the Oregon coast located south of the Umpqua river in Oregon. The lake has a size of 355 acres and offers a lot of recreational activities for people visiting the area of the lake.

Eel lake is also connected with William M. Tugman State Park which offers camping and picnic spots for people looking for some time away from their daily routine. The U shaped lake also offers sightseeing around the lake with hiking routes also available for hikers. All in all it is a perfect spot to visit with your family and friends to spend some quality time together.

Among all the things Eel Lake offers to the people visiting, Fishing is what attracts the most people to it. The types of fishes available in the lake are largemouth bass, stocked rainbow trout, crappie, bluegill, steelhead, and all types of Coho salmon should be released if caught which includes even the ones that are under 15 inches in size. The fishes that are almost regularly caught in the lake are Bass, Bluegill, Trout and Crappie. If you have a boat then you can get lucky with other types of fishes as well because you can access the prime fishing spots of the lake.

Besides fishing Lake Eel also offers swimming, boating and kayaking. So, if you want to take a dip in the cool and fresh waters of the lake during a hot summer day or go around the lake in a boat or a canoe, the lake always has those options open for you. When you are swimming in the lake there are certain points in the lake that you are not allowed to cross and it also has some shallow seaweed beds that might get you startled when you first come across it but you are fine to swim through. Boating or Kayaking in the lake is also a good option, especially if you are fishing in the lake. The water is calm and fresh so there is not much of a risk to go for a nice calm boating around the lake with your family.

According to the people who have visited the area of the Lake including the Tugman park, it is said the lake is the best part of the area. There are also hiking routes beside the lake and you can go for a nice hike around the forest of the lake. So overall, if you are planning to camp, swim, hike or do anything the lake and its area offers, you can be sure that you will not be bored here.
